It takes a “Village” to come together to protect our seniors. Lamorinda Village in partnership with Comprehensive Wellness and the City of Lafayette Parks and Rec Dept helped over 500 seniors get vaccinated in the first, large scale, drive through vaccination clinic in the Bay Area. Pulling in over 100 volunteers and clinicians in less than 5 days, we created the village that protected seniors from COVID during the height of the pandemic. Ruth McCahan, Founding Member and Past President of Lamorinda Village has served on numerous local organizations—including the Lafayette Senior Services Commission. Ruth was the driving force behind the creation of Lamorinda Village, a nonprofit that provides support for seniors living in their homes.

Lamorinda Village’s Shelter in Place Program for Seniors
During this pandemic, Lamorinda Village moved fast to serve and help seniors shelter and stay safe from COVID. Right after the SIP mandate, we began shopping for seniors in our commnunity. We tripled our volunteer base and made close to 2000 deliveries. Click here to see the KTVU story about a grocery store and a Village. This was the first positive grocery story of 2020 as there was no mention of hoarding and the lack of toilet paper on the shelves.
